Philosophy:

At Urban Design Group we understand that buildings and their surrounding environments are an integral part of this new economy. As sustainable architects, we are responsible for restoring and enhancing the current state of the built environment. Our approach goes beyond reducing the negative impacts of construction. We design concentrated developments to promote urbanism, public life, and shared use of resources. We seek to create buildings that produce, rather than consume energy. Our projects contribute additional green space and improve air quality. Our main objective is to design buildings and the surrounding environment to enhance the quality of life and respect the ecosystem. UDG’s ecological design philosophy is evident in our work. We recognize that our design principle guide our mission for achieving sustainability, innovation, civic responsibility. We recognize that each project has a unique “ecosystem,” yet we strive to integrate project objectives within broader social and environmental missions. The people of UDG are dedicated to the mission of transforming the urban fabric into a healthy and sustainable world.

Why participating?:
My attraction to the Maryland Green Designer Show Home project is threefold: (1) I wanted to be part of a first-of-its-kind project, showing the public that they can have a beautiful, eco-friendly home that works with the environment, not against it; (2) I enjoy helping others, so when I saw that this project was benefiting the Hospice of the Chesapeake, and the Make a Wish Foundation, I wanted to be a contributing part of it; and (3) I wanted to challenge myself as a Designer. I enjoy “white-box” challenges, where my only limitations is my imagination.

Kim & Erin

Room: Dining Room

Why participate?:
This is an opportunity to showcase our firm’s design talent while also showing how easy it is to incorporate “green” items into everyday living.  We also believe in giving back to our community and this show house is a perfect way to do that.  We are excited to be a part of the show house and to present a memorable design for all those touring the home.

Bio:
Dream House Studios, Inc. is a full service interior design firm located in Annapolis, Maryland.  Our approach to design is pretty simple and it begins with really getting to know our clients and how they live.  Part of the process is to present options and ideas that maybe they have not considered.  There is a true collaboration between our design team and our clients throughout the whole project.  We have a talent for being able to “interpret” their lifestyle into a custom design for their homes.  All of our designs have a comfortable, fresh feel to them no matter the design style or client.

We believe that the process should be fun and not intimidating.  The finished product should reflect each clients personality and be truly their own.  We place a lot of emphasis on the uniqueness of each project.  There is no better feeling than seeing the clients so happy in their new spaces!
